Dr Gyan Nyaupane is associate professor and graduate program director at Arizona State University, USA. He is also affiliated with the Global Institute of Sustainability as a senior sustainably scientist.  He has research interest in understanding the relationship between tourists and both the natural and cultural resources, and how tourism helps to conserve the environment and alleviate poverty.  He has done extensive research on topics related  to ecotourism, nature-based tourism, heritage tourism, poverty and user fees, and published in major tourism, recreation, heritage and environmental journals including Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, Leisure Sciences, Tourism Management, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, and International Journal of Heritage Studies. He has recently co-authored a book on Heritage and Tourism in the Developing World. He is on the Editorial Board for many leading tourism journals including Annals of Tourism Research and Journal of Travel Research.
