Graduate Student, School of Human Evolution and Social Change
About
My name is Jacob, and I am currently a graduate student at Arizona State University. My research focus is human ecology. I use both a comparative approach to study the general principles of human-environment interactions among small-scale societies and dynamic modeling techniques to study the co-evolutionary dynamics of social and ecological systems. I am interested in the drivers of agricultural change among small-scale human societies, the transformation of hunter-gatherer societies into agricultural societies and how social inequality impacts the long-term resilience of coupled human and natural systems. I also maintain a strong interest in how humans impact global patterns of species diversity and abundance.
