About
Broadly speaking, my research, writing, and teaching consider issues of gender, family, and identity in the early modern Habsburg Empire. I approach the archival materials central to my studies from a social and cultural perspective, with gender analysis as a unifying element. I carry out research in numerous archives in Madrid, Toledo, and Valladolid--I am a self-professed and unrepentant archive rat. At the same time, I am rather fond of dabbling in literary analysis and find myself intrigued by a wide array of theoretical perspectives.
